I'm Neale Kelley, the creator and artist behind Savi.
I've been doing clay since I was around six years old, when my grandmother introduced it to me. I forgot about it for a few years, but picked it back up when I was around twelve. I've been doing it fervently ever since, with many changes to my style and the techniques I've learnt over time. I began selling my art in 2017, when I was fourteen. I'm now eighteen, and looking forwards to continuing on with my art. It's been a great experience, and I'm so grateful for everyone's support!
How do I buy things from you?
Well, first of all, thanks for wanting to! But to answer your question, I do craft fairs, which is a great place to stop by. I also sell wholesale at The Voice of Clay in Brookline NH, so if you're interested in some gnomes, mermaids, faeries, or salamanders, that's a great place to stop by and support me (and support them too!). How long does each piece take you?
It really depends upon what it is! This is definitely my most asked question, and I don't have an answer to it. A person takes me maybe an hour, an animal might take half an hour. It really depends, though, on the detailing and the size.
What are your pieces made of?
I use polymer clay, though I've also started incorporating mixed mediums into my artwork. So while most of what you see here is clay, a lot of my bigger pieces include wood, paper, fabric, wire, twine, or anything else I can get my hands on!
The clear glaze on my clay pieces is simply clear nail polish, and sometimes for animals their eyes are coloured with black nail polish. Ink is also pretty common for me, on the really small detailing.
